poor saps who bought Brokaw's story--like me--don't fret. So did Rep. Lacy Clay, Obama’s Missouri co-chairman and pledged Obama superdelegate himself. Clay told the Columbia Missourian yesterday that the 50 superdelegates would come out of the closet "later this week"--and then took the stats one step further, claiming that "the campaign is Obama’s." “[Sen. Clinton] will not make up those numbers,” Clay said. “This race is over.” Which wouldn't have been true in any case--an additional 200 or so superdelegates would've still remained uncommitted, and Clinton and Obama would've been roughly tied among these party leaders. But it's even less true today.

Now that Clinton's death-defying wins in Texas and Ohio have prolonged the contest and slowed Obama's momentum among party poobahs, there's a bigger story to watch: an increasing willingness among superdelegates to band together and seek concessions from the presidential candidates in return for votes at the convention. Last night, the Politico reported that bloc of uncommitted Ohio supers--perhaps including Reps. March Kaptur, Dennis Kucinich, Tim Ryan, Zack Space, Betty Sutton and Charlie Wilson, and Sen. Sherrod Brown--is "withholding endorsements from Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton until one or the other offers a concrete proposal to protect American jobs," according to two state Democrats.

At this point, everyone knows that Obama and Clinton need superdelegate support to put them over the top--the superdelegates included. With the contest now likely to continue until the convention, I suspect it won't be long before others start making similar demands

Ahh, George! You were so close! You and this conflation of speech and money. While you may be in line with the current courts, as someone obsessed with original intent, do you really believe that the founding fathers defined speech in such a way that would dis-proportionally award more speech (and therefore influence) to some and not others? Isn’t speech the very quality that a person has idependant of status and money? In the fusion of democracy and capitalism that currently defines American life, speech is the only freedom left that transcends class, but when you say that money is speech, then you disenfranchize all those without it â€" surely not an original intent. Oh, and where does the constitution directly say that money is speech? As a strict constructionist, isn’t that a problem?

As Citizens for Tax Justice (www.ctj.org) reported a few years ago, many corporations accept incentives from state and city governments without ever meeting the conditions they agreed to (number of jobs created, for instance). For these companies, the incentive is merely added to the bottom line without so much as a "thank you" to the taxpayers who gave it to them.

I say NO incentives, ever. It is not our role as taxpayers to assume corporate risks of any kind.

Booster SOCIALISM? Come on, George, that is really beneath you. Call it by its real name -- croney capitalism or corporate welfare. Don't engage in Kafka-like political framing by using words you know people will associate with liberalism. What you describe is a failing of conservatism, of the Right. Yet the words you chose -- socialism -- make it seem like a sin of the Left. That really is dishonest and you know it.

Open Question: Where did the chores for women such as sewing and cleaning thre house emerge?

Okay, when was it first started when women were men's property and did all the house work, sewing, and taking care of the kids? Of course hardly anyone acts like this anymore but who first came up with the idea that women need to basically take care of the men? In almost every culture this was at some point an issue. Where do you think these types of ideas about women fist emerged?

Hi, I have a question hope you can help.
I use Quick Tax to prepare my 2006 return, I noticed when come to printing the returns I have ON479 included in the package to submit.
However, on page 4 of my T1 general, the line number 479 is Blank or Null. I did fill in the ON479 to claim the Ontario Credit. But the th result after the calculation on the ON479 is also blank/null. I understand that mean I am not getting any credit. But do I need to send the ON479 in with the returns.

In India if any body advocates in favour of Common Civil Code Muslims get angry. And Muslims ask for Islamic Civil Law for them for marriage, property distribution ,divorce.

Open Question: WINDOWS XP Help!?

I just got a new computer and it's a windows XP.
The monitor is kind of old, and used.

My color resolution is very low and when I go to the Properties then to Settings and try to fix it, the screen resolution can't be moved up so it's stuck at 800 by 600 pixels.
Also, my color quality can only be at 8 bit without making the text and windows fit only half way onto the screen.

Anyone know what to do?
I can't view some things because of this.

PLEASE HELP!!

(And, when I go to Advanced settings, that doesn't work either.)
Thank you everyone for answering, I've solved the problem thanks to Glenn!

Open Question: Property line problems-help!?

I bought a house 2 years ago. The house is 20 years old and the driveway thats with it is also 20 years old. There are vacant, overgrown lots on either side of me. Today I came home to find the owner of the property (whom Ive never seen before) "surveying" (he claims he has been a surveyor for 20 years) his property, and said that my driveway is on his property and that I needed to move it. WHAT??

These lots along with others were apparantly a homestead years ago that were chopped into lots (poorly done I might add), and I was told yesterday byt the man that when the lots were all owned by "family" the driveway didnt matter. But now, since he wants to put his niece a DW next door, all of a sudden the driveway that was ok for 20 years for them, is now not ok for me, since he claims its on his property. Isnt there some kind of law to protect me, since the house AND driveway have existed with eachother for 20 years? There is no other access to the house unless I jump a 5' road
ditch. We live in NC if that helps answer.. THANKS!

Here's the low down. Yesterday I purchased the WACOM bamboo fun tablet. I plugged it in, read the very small instructions, installed the software, and nothing is happening. And when I click 'pen tablet properties' i get an error box that leaves me to a dead end that says 'a supported tablet was not found on the system'. I know the tablet is working because the LED light is glowing blue, it flashes every second. But, my computer isn't seeing the device! It's not showing up on my 'my computer' and when i go to 'add hardware' in the CP, it see's it CTE-650 but it has a little exclamation mark next to it. i gather that the driver didn't install properly, but why? i really have nothing that would conflict with it. well maybe i do. but i have all the system requirements! please help me. im not a computer whiz but i really just want to get it to work, it was too exspensive for it to NOT work!

Open Question: Is it okay to have fun in the mud?

I have worked as a general labourer in a boatyard for the past 6 months. The work can be dirty and sometimes I wear tall rubber waders when I am power washing or anti-fouling. I liked the waders from the moment I saw them and I have found it increasingly exciting to wear them and take them out on the mud. A first I just paddled near the shore but now Iit has developed and whenever I can I wade into the deep mud until I am almost to the tops of the boots and I find the risk of getting stuck or discovered very exciting. Last week I went so far out that the boots started to flood and I had to clean them out with masses of loo paper. Apart from the risk of getting fired for misuse of company property, is it okay to have so much fun in a pair of boots?

Open Question: Minimum Risk Investments?

My Mum had a smallish amount to invest after dad died. She went to a financial advisor in Oct 2006. He told her to invest in a 5year term distribution fund which allowed her to use some of the interest as income. She has lost approx 10% of the original lump sum because of the way the markets are. The advisor is saying to hold onto the fund as her investment is in gilts and commercial property. He says things always go up again and its not as if we are ar at war or the government is in debt! meanwhile the fund is still losing quite heavily, but if she withdraws her money she will lose another £3,500 in exit penalties! She is really worried.

I think she has been given duff advice from the outset! Surely he, as a financil advisor, should have seen the present market problems coming! Is there anything we can do about it?
Jack N. She was told the fund could go up or down but that it was minimum risk. She feels that the losses far exceed her expectations. With hindsite she would have taken a fixed interest bond but he didnt offer anything like that at the time. She is with one of the big banks

Open Question: I make an offer on a piece of Real Estate and the seller backed out can I sue?

I bought the property for $40,900 and the seller bought her property a year and a half before that for $45,750. I think the market value is around $50,000. She signed the contract for $40,900 and now is claiming that she doesn't have enough money to close and we might have to take a short sale with a bank. I don't know if the bank will take the hit though. The contract expires in 10 days. Could I make the case that by me not aquiring the property I have lost $10,000 since I would have bought the property $10,000 below market value also for wasted time. Time is worth money too. The owner is in California I am in Ohio. Where do I file a suite? Should I get an attorney? Will they reimburse me for attorney costs?

Open Question: Where is my property?

The cops took my puse from me after they arrested me for drugs in my car. I DID NOT HAVE DRUGS IN MY CAR, OR ON ME! They LIED. They also lied about their reason to pull me over. Not only that, when I sstepped out of the car, they immediately hand-cuffed me. Said they were doing a sting in the area and saw me making a deal. I was going down the road minding my own business, and I get pulled over. After I was hand-cuffed, I said I wanted to see an attorney. I was then made to stand along side of one of the police cars while they patted me down, reached in my pockets and turned them inside out, and ran their hand across the back of my waist. I aaked for an attorney again. They just ignored me. One of the officers stuck his head in the driver side window and said he found a crumb. They then started to search my car, and my trunk. I did not have drugs in my car. They were lieing. One of the officers told me I was under arrest for possesion. and put me in the back seat

Open Question: Seller helping buyer with down payment?

As an owner-landlord, I have a good relationship with my current tennant. At the expiration of this lease, my tennant wishes to buy the property at fair market value. Trouble is, they don't have the 20% down to avoid PMI. I would be willing to inflate the sales price on the property and then return this extra profit to the buyer in order that they may use it for their down payment needs.

Your thoughts??? Is this legal? Anyone out care to share their personal experience with a simular real estate transaction?

Open Question: How do I change C:\Users\Name1 to C:\Users\Name2 in Vista Ultimate?

I have tried everything from changing my computer name, the domain name, computer description, user names, opening up the properties of Name1 folder and yet I can't seem to find a way to change it to Name2. I am the admin of the computer running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Macbook Pro. I am familiar with regedit, but not sure if it could help. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
@ Jason: I don't see how that answers my question.

Open Question: Concrete water tank used in tannery with ARSENIC. Left empty 4 15yrs.Will arsenic still be in concrete?

We want to use it to collect rainwater to keep our swimming pool topped up as we live on a rural property and have to rely on rainwater tanks for our usage.

Open Question: Is it unethical or hypocritical for a childless couple to buy a house in a good school district?

In populated areas, housing prices are influenced primarily by location (of course), but the school district can make a big difference too. Properties in good school districts generally sell faster and appreciate better.

Should the neighborhoods in good school districts be reserved for families with school-age children (i.e. society at large would benefit more) or should the free market be allowed to work, where anyone can buy anywhere they can afford to live?
I have no objection to it (describes me). But other housing areas in our neighborhood are designated "Seniors Only (age 55 or better)". Somehow that must be legal - I just wasn't sure if they'd try the same approach with families with kids.

Open Question: Moving a grave?

So the other day i was touring this historic home in my city and the tour guide was telling us that they recently moved the original owners remains back to the property.

Well. this house is like 200 years old and the original owner died 190 years ago.

By now, the body is probably nothing. How would they dig up the remains? i mean, how would they know when they dug deep enough? and how would they know that they scooped up the person?

Do they just scoop up a bunch of mud and hope they got the body?

This is all very confusing to me
