Open Question: renting and depreciation of simple outbuilding?

Hi:
I have 2 small book businesses that I run out of my home and I rent a bit of space elsewhere. I also use a couple of sheds for my businesses that are on my property but that are separate from my home. My understanding is that I can pay a small rent to myself for the outbuildings and deduct them as a business expense. So here are my questions:
1) I have both a sole proprietorship and S-corp business [both book businesses--one wholesale; one retail], can I only deduct renting the outbuildings to myself if I pay for it from the S-corp or can I also deduct the payments from the sole proprietorship as well [my preference if that's allowed]?
2) I assume if I do this, I will need to fill out a schedule E come tax time for the income personally received. I'm also assuming I'd need to depreciate the outbuilding--but how do I do that when there is no separate cost basis for the buildings? Or will it only be possible to deduct repairs to maintain the outbuildings?

Open Question: I have no internet ? please help?

The computer was running fine when all of a sudden theres no internet connection. I tried the whole repair ip and having it set to auto. My pc tends to run better when set to manual. I can't see the network but for some odd way I can use instant messenger and thats it. I looked at internet connection properties and it says network connected but the internet icon is disabled. when clicked it says enabling but then goes away and it did nothing. Most of the time that icon isn't there. I went to internet options and looked at connection but it says I don't have a internet provider. All the other computers are connected to the internet. I got a new Ethernet card (linksys) thinking that would help but still nothing. I'm guessing it something with the internet connections not the router, modem, or drivers. Everything worked fine before.

My husband and I bought a new home last year in a new subdivision. Prior to the land being developed into a subdivision, it was a vacant area where people would go "off roading" four wheeling, etc. in their trucks and quads. Since the subdivision has gone in, the same people still seem to think they they can continue to ride through and do as they please. It is really getting out of control, and there is a small strip of land that runs behind my house that is technically not my property, all the way down past several homes and serves as a "roadway" for these people to come in. I have tried to ignore it, but these people are going in late at night, 2-3:00 in the morning and the constant annoying engine noise makes it impossible to sleep through. We as well as other neighbors have complained to the police who also have been no help. The police claim that they can't do anything unless the physically catch someone trespassing back there. And that is the problem...continued!
I believe the people that go off roading know this because they make two or three passes through and then they are gone! My husband has also tried talking to the developer of the subdivision about getting it stopped. He was not much help either, suggesting there really wasn't much to do, but he did put up road blocks so that they can't enter behind our house and the people have stolen three road blocks and have moved the fourth one into the woods down the street! There are also no trespassing signs posted, but those are also stolen every other day. I am to the point now that I have absolutely had it because it is all of the time, night and day and sometimes trucks are even cutting through between houses and driving on people's lawns. I am looking for any suggestions on how you would handle this problem!!

The landlord is my father and the property I live in was owned by a deceased relative that told me I could live there for free after he died. I have lived in the property for almost five years without paying rent. 2 months ago my dad convinced the upstairs neighbor (it is a 2 family unit) to tell me he bought the property from my dad and I needed to pay him rent if I wanted to stay. I found out the lie and the neighbor apologized and said my father had threatened to sell the house otherwise. now the neighbor has given me a fax sent to him from my dad's lawyer demanding I vacate the premises in 3 days for non payment of rent. My neighbor even told me he had been involved in a 3 way phone conversation with my dad and the attorney. Obviously I don't have a close relationship with my father. I understand that it is not worth staying in the house, but I am upset about him telling my neighbor that I am a deadbeat when there has been no demand for rent in years. Is this slander?

My neighbor has mulched their entire backyard enough times that the back 1/4 of my fence is buried halfway up with rotting mulch... and the weight is too heavy for my fence. I recently purchased a rental property from a little old lady that had a renter in a detached apartment behind her house. She had a hand written lease for the guy that was up one month before I purchased. (He had no lease when I purchased) He informed me that the little old lady said he could stay till the end of the month free of charge. I decided to let him stay till the end of the month and or sign a new lease with me. He decided to move out at the end of the month. I recently took my computer into a repair shop, but my mother paid- which I didn't think would make any problem until I got the comp. home!

Now my computer is named with HER first name, and I can't change it. I have Windows XP and I changed the user admin/log on to Kayliana (my name)...I went into properties and changed the COMPUTER name to NIGHTBRINGER.

But the computer has somehow been registered to HER now and it's driving me up a wall. I even went into the registry and edited it from Heather to Kayliana.

Everytime I come back from being AFK and am prompted for a password it says something like C://NIGHTBRINGER/ (Heather)Kayliana.

Is there anyway I can fix it? She doesn't even touch the comp, but she paid for the repairs so I think they named it so they'd know who's it was.

Open Question: Who is Responcible in a Corporation C set-up?

A friend of mine owns a small business and since he "sold" shares of the company to friends and family to raise money to open it, he filed the business as a Corporation C.

He is now horribly in debt because he did not balance his budget wisely, and he is planning on filing bankruptcy. He has not told any of the "shareholders" because he says when a Corporation C files bankruptcy the government and collectors cannot sell or reposess the shareholders personal finances and property to cover the Corporation's debt, they can only go after the finances, stock and profits of the business to cover the debts.

Everyone else I have spoke with about this said he is full of BS and that if the business does fold and he files they will start selling off business stock and fixtures, and if that does not cover the debt they will start with the highest sharehold and work their way down until they get all of their money.

Which is true? Who is right?

this guy next store has called the police every time they got out sometimes when they werent even our horses. Question is I cant find the law in Tennessee. What can they do in court to us. I recently found out that a house on my street has been taken over by a financial institution. I don't know much about these scenarios, but I guess the owner owed taxes or something like that...
However, the owner continues to live there. The transfer to the bank occurred 2 months ago, and the house is still in the bank's name.
Can the owner stay there and perhaps "pay rent" to the bank? I guess I expected him to have to move out once the bank took over, but like I said, I'm not familiar with this. Can someone shed some light?
If I could get a good deal, I would be interested in the property, but it's currently not listed for sale.
Is it possible that the person living there could buy it back from the bank?

Open Question: Landlord won't return security deposit?

We live in TX and our landlord in CA refuses to return the security deposit. The reason is that she assumed that we prohibit her broker to put the keybox immediately after our 30-day notice. It is not true. We have only asked is it's possible and it wasn't a mandatory, but only a request to put the lock after Feb 15th. In return they would have absolutely clean and presentable place to show and rent immediately in the middle of the month.
We moved out on Feb 9th....and of course paid for a full month.

We have a copy of 30-day notice where stated that we allow the real estate agent come and show the place.
The landlord refers to a place in a contract:

14. Access by landlord.
1. Tenant authorizes Landlord or broker to place on the Property a keybox containing a key to the property
during the last 30 days of this lease.

Ones again, we didn't refuse to put the keybox.

Please advise.

Open Question: Should I buy a house right now or pay off credits cards?

I live in Mobile, AL where the housing market is about to take off due to new jobs coming to the area. We are not first time buyers but we do not currently own (we are renting a house). We have approx. $10,000 in credit card debt but we still make enough that we could qualify for a good home. Is it smarter to stay where we are and pay all credit off to let our credit score go up? Or would it be smart to go ahead and buy before property prices go up? My thought is that if property goes up and we already own we could take out a home equity loan to pay off all of our debt and maybe pay it off faster then we could while we are still renting. What do you think?
