Open Question: Does Carly live right next to the waterfront property?
So did anyone else notice that when Micheal called Carly to tell her she was in Prot Charles the timer on the bomb said 3 minutes. Well Carly was standing in Micheals presence by 2 minutes. In that time she left his room, got him a snack, and made it over to the property he was at? Now I get she's in a rush to get to Micheal but does she live next door? Come on, that was the longest three minutes Ive seen in awhile, even for a soap.
I meant to tell her HE was in port charles, not she.. sorry :)

Open Question: Does age become an excuse for inexcusible behavior?
I ask this towards those who are the eldest siblings in their family. Why does it seem like the yonger one, never has his punishments increased as he gets older?
Now I am going to go into an example. Me, when I was 11, I was punished over the slightest things(forgetting something about an assignment at school). But when my brother was 11 they were like "he's younger, your about to go to high school". That bull because when I was 11, they punished me and did not think anything of it. But now he was too young????
Also parents, talk to us all kind of ways, often using demeaning comments. We often get the blame for stuff that we were not apart of. The eldest child is supposed to be a role model for the yonger sibling NOT THE PARENT. There is a difference. All I can do is set an example and hope that you follow, I cant control you.
Is it me or is it that the eldest child is not seen a human being that makes mistakes and has feelings just like everyone else? WE are seen as property.

If a non US citizen relative quitclaims a property deed to me, which is worth $700k, would I have to pay taxes on this "gift?" If so, can I claim the property to be worth say $400k to avoid a heavy tax? Would the government revalue the property to get the true value when the deed is transferred to me?

Open Question: Can a Landlord Ask an Existing Tenant for a Paystub in California?
I've been a good, problem free tenant for 8 years. My landlord has recently asked for a copy of my paystub. Is this legal? He has told me its because he's never raised my rent and the owner of the property has raised rents on everyone else. I feel suspicious about this and am hoping someone has some insight.

Open Question: Fun with words and vowels....... how many can you get?
Here are 9 questions about words with unique properties. First to get all 9 (or whoever gets the most) receives the 10 points. Good luck! (All are English words)
1) There are 3 words which contain a, e, i, o and u (and only those 5 vowels) in order. Name one.
2) The only 6 letter word containing all 5 vowels? (Hint - A rarely used medical term referring to a state of normal mental health.)
3) The only common 7 letter word containing all 5 vowels?
4) A 5 letter word with 4 vowels?
5) The longest word with only 1 vowel (appearing once only)?
6) The longest word spelled using only the top row of letters on a standard keyboard (it is sometimes hyphenated)?
7) The longest common word which contains neither a, e, i, o or u?
8) Easy one. The word with 3 consecutive sets of doubled letters?
9) Very tough one. There are 3 15-letter words (all are reasonably well known and not obscure) that alternate between vowels and consonants. Name one.
Go!
Good work, Butterfly, but numbers 6 and 9 are incorrect. #6 needs a 12 letter word (not 11), and your answer for #9 doesn't alternate vowels and consonants (vcvcvcvcvcvcv).
Mickey D, your answer for #9 contains only 14 letters.
Butterfly needs #6, Mickey D needs #9.
Hurry!
Great work, Butterfly. Ten points to you.
#1 - facetious, abstemious or caesious
#9 - overimaginative, parasitological or verisimilitudes
Butterfly - I'm glad you added teetertotter. What does uropyoureter mean? I'm unfamiliar with that one.
Thanks, Butterfly - I think I'm sorry I asked. ( ; I'll give you the 10 points as soon as Y!A allows me. Great work! I'm glad you found the question interesting!

Open Question: Do you think this could have been an act of God?
I haven't been driving for several years because due to an untreated anxiety disorder, I haven't trusted myself to. (My nerves are completely shot and my thoughts are often scattered.) However, I'm in the process of getting back into treatment (it takes several appointments) and told my controlling, jealous husband this morning - in no uncertain terms - that once I'm back on meds, I'm taking the Camaro. (He didn't like that. He thinks I'm supposed to be in the house unless I'm with him. He even used to do things like disabling my car.)
Anyhoo, guess which car's engine supposedly blew up today? I can't help but wonder if maybe God did it, because in the Bible he does make it pretty clear that the husband is the boss and the wife is pretty much property.
What do you think?
He's a mechanic, of all things, HGHA. I'm betting that he did something to make it not run and how the hell would I know, you know?
(((pushes oh hims nose)))
Unfortunately, it's too true. I'm so pissed, I can't even think of any of my goofball questions so that I can have a laugh....
I don't like it either, Pheonix, but it's a long story. And I'm out the door the minute our youngest moves out.

I own a house in CA and am considering relocating to another state for a job. If I keep the CA house and rent it out, then pay rent for a place in the other state, will I be taxed on rental income? In effect my paying rent is an expense against the income from the rent I receive, no? Assume the rent I pay is equal to the rent I receive, and assume this is also equal to my mortgage + property taxes. Thanks.

Open Question: Looking for information on a Dulcinia Brawner.?
We've done extensive research on our home and have come up against a road block. Dulcinia Brawner owned our property in Pittsburgh, PA from 1837 until her death in 1876. She was born in NC but we cannot find any records on her. She had no children, and was listed in the 1850 census as single, musician. She left her estate to a Nancy Twomey and seven children in Michigan. I find it fascinating that a single woman built our home, and the one next to us during that time, and would love to discover more.
The census, from what I can tell, has her name misspelled (I read the actual deed books when I looked up my home's history). The predominant Brawner that I've found is "Brawner's Farm" which was significant of a Civil War battle in Manassas, but I'm not sure if she was born a Brawner or if she married into the family. Thanks for searching!

Open Question: What would the world be like if all the countries on earth united into one?
And suppose this One World Government took the form of socialism.
The capital of the socialist world government would be Moscow and then each country would become a socialist Republic of this massive global government. And all the world's taxes would flow into Moscow, Russia.
Moscow would establish a government institution to represent all races, ethnicities, all nations that existed before the New World order.
The goal would be to end inequality around the globe, there would be a global minimum wage, and all corporate property would be abolished and transferred to the state and then delegated to working families who would take collective ownership.
Would this world
A) Be a utopia?
B) Be a new concept with massive potential?
C) Be the gradual downfall of the civilized world? or
D) Would it cause the end of the human race shortly after formation?
Would you be happy or sad?
I used Moscow to get more psychological attention on Socialism and pull some extra responses.
But yeah, we'd be better off using the top 3 largest cities in each continent, and the CENTER of centers should be Stockholm to keep stability.
Or Geneva could work

Resolved Question: Would you ever give up your freedom to fill any of the following roles?
1. worker (Absolutely not. If I couldn't work, life wouldn't be worth living.)
2. spouse/partner (Spouse, yes. Partner, no.)
3. parent/caregiver (Parent, yes. Caregiver, probably.)
4. voter (No. What's the point of being interested in politics when you can't even express your interest the old-fashioned way?)
5. student (No. That would be a waste of 18 years dreaming of going to university.)
6. elected official (Probably not. I don't see myself running for anything in the foreseeable future, but it remains a possibility, however slight.)
7. property owner (No. Who in their right mind would want to give THAT up?)
8. athlete (Yes, but hopefully the freedom to take an exercise or self-defence class wouldn't count.)
9. commentator (No. I like to talk too much.)
10. celebrity (Yes. It wouldn't be too much of a loss, even though it might be fun to a degree.)

Shouldn't we be able to just buy a home or car without being taxed just for having it? It seems really messed up. I know the state needs money, but thats what sales and income tax are for. So wtf ? Personal property tax just seems really wrong, especially on homes.
Cavemen didn't have to worry about this. You can just find an unoccupied cave, and hunt for food. Those were the days...
The "We" I refer to is us, hardworking americans that are being penalized just for having shelter. Sure, we can elect someone to do something but how do we organize that and convince them about this issue?
Actually, Wartz, I wish that we as humans would go back to the stone age. Back to when we were only concerned with food, clothing and shelter. They were far better off and probably alot happier than us right now.

He has always been an active dog leaving him with some significant soreness. He still loves to play and assert himself, but as he gets older his hearing has suffered and now his bladder suffers too. Open Question: Fun in the mud?
I have worked as a general labourer in a boatyard for the past 6 months. The work canbe dirty and sometimes I wear tall rubber waders when I am power washing or working on the mud flats. I was drawn to the waders from the moment I first saw them and I have found it increasingly exciting to take them out on the mud. A first I just paddled on the shore but now, when no-one is looking, I wade out until mud is almost to the tops of the boots and this I find very exciting. Once I went right over the tops and had to clean the boots with masses of loo paper. Apart from the risk of getting fired for misuse of company property, am I alone in this activity and is it wrong to have so much fun in a pair of boots?

Open Question: can we sue ?
we are in the process of buying a cottage - we were pratically ready to exchange when we bumped into the neighbours who informed us of a unresolved dispute between them and the people we are buying from . it now looks like this dispute has been going on for 2 years. we were never made aware of any ongoing disputes and it looks like we will have to pull out - due to this . we stand to lose approx £10 grand if we do pull out .
we feel that the estate agents should have informed us of this , had they then we would have pulled out .
does anyone know if we can sue for the money we stand to lose? is there an estate agents act that they must adhere to when selling a property??
the dispute is about building work that was carried out and the filling of an old well . the neighbours feel that the well was filled in accordance to building guidelines... and are asking for guareentees that it has been filled correctly . The seller cannot provide this . thus making the dispute unresolved.
when i spoke to the estate agent last week she said that she was aware of some dispute about , but thought it had been resolved. apparently been going on for 2 years!!!
the seller did not put anything on the sellers prop info pack re a dispute about a well .
we are buying in the UK .
sorry meant neighbours were NOT HAPPY with work on the well .

Open Question: HOA Campaign Flyer , Have you seen one done before?
Do you have any ideas on what may be the best approach for a campaign flyer ? I am on the ballot for next months election and was quite taking back by one that I already mentioned by another board member. His clearly stated he spearheaded all activiities over the last 4 months, attempting to take "credit" for our boards decisions. He personally has listed things that clearly show no working knowledge of Davis Sterling, ccrs bylaws and rules.
I myself do not have the intention of running this man into the ground ( but would love to with this yahoo) , but would like to make reference that I would hold the board to follow the above mentioned. ( In the past the board on a whole has made errors due to lack of working knowledge of the ds, ccr etc.) I personally have brought a few things to light with them which was NOT accepted until it was confirmed by our management comapany and atty. I would like to protect our property from all possible liability and hold keeping the property to a high cosmetic standard. ( It has bad paint, awnings torn and our board thinks this is ok! )
ANY IDEAS on how this should be phrased or have you seen a campaign letter that you could give an example?
( I also plan on referencing our own ccr's which clearly states the electtion proceedure, #1 due to the fact most don't know how it works.. and #2 the above mentioned yahoo asked people to mark "Ed for President" on their ballot. ( It doesn't work that way here. )
THank you in advance.. I hope to hear a reference or idea or two.

Open Question: Would we even be here without language?
Here meaning online. Using such advanced technology. "Language is the core property which defines us as humans" - correct? It just made me think... if we didn't have natural language, all that'd distinguish us from other animals would be intelligence, which would amount to very little because we'd have no way to find a mutual understanding and apply that intelligence to engineering and so on.
Unless we'd have found some other form of communication.
